Trying to make lemonade.

This last week was FULL of stressful days. I guess since all my moves have been within utah i've always thought moving wasn't THAT bad. Jeez was i ever wrong.... and yes.. you are ALL right.. moving with a baby is, well.....HELL. Lucky for me, i have a GREAT baby boy who loves routine and didn't lose too much sleep from all the moving... just attention and maybe a couple of meals. HAH. so here's my list of stresses from last week.

1. no key to our place.

we didn't have a key for a full week!!!! really school? really? come on. work it out. I'd go into it more but it is just going to annoy me all over again.

2. lockout.

yes, while taking out a desk to the dumpster... genius me decided to close the door because i didn't feel safe leaving it open while we walked a few yards from our place. so i closed it. and ended up locked out of our apartment at 10pm with no key and a sleeping baby inside. Am i retarded? probably. Anyway... we used a neighbor's phone to call the emergency maintenance hotline but they said, "we don't do lock outs." REALLY!?!?! even if there is a BABY inside? wow. THAT'S annoying. so we called the park police (cuz we live in a park) who called the fire department who roared their sirens and flashed their lights all the way up our street to our door. As if THAT wasn't embarrassing enough... they used an AXE to open our door for us.... shredding the lock on the door frame. nice. They were really nice though and we laughed about how dramatic it all was for a stupid lockout. Then the emergency maintenance guy showed up because the police called him. He's a really nice guy but he was PISSED to see the damage knowing it could have been prevented if the stupid hotline lady had just given him the message about it all. good. she's getting in trouble. RETARD.

3. city life.

so yeah... i've never lived in a city before... the drivers here are like 10 times worse than utah.... and i thought THEY were bad. wow. i was SOOOOO wrong. We were going up this steep hill and some guy was riding our rear so close i couldn't see the front of his car.... he kept honking for us to go faster but because our little car has a small engine.. it was just sputtering up it. Once the hill was over... the guy passed us and flipped enos off. thanks sir. We got our official city welcome. on the plus side... i've seen some of the most CRAZY looking people!!! i'm gonna have to make sure i ALWAYS have my camera with me so i can snap some shots of these intriguing weirdos. i love it!!!! Jessica you would go NUTS!!

4. unpacking.

ugh. i'm sure you all know how undesireable this task is... i needn't say any more.

5. dental school husband.

enos has been so preoccupied with fears of dental school and what it's gonna be like when it starts (it started today by the way)... that he has been kinda within himself leaving me to feel these stresses alone. poor guy. say prayers for him... ya know... if you're a praying type. :) he DOES seem to be doing better now though...

6. i think i'll end on six because it's kind of a creepy number. and i like creepy.

and now... to end on the positive.....

THESE things have made the move easier to handle..... *sigh*

the view from our apt. it's MOSTLY good. right? hah

i took this picture of the trail by our place after walking up a GIANT hill.. i was so sweaty and gasping for air... it was lovely... really. my breathing... in addition to this view.

this is the left view from our beach 5 minutes from our apt.... really? NO SAND tara? i think not. :)

and THIS... is the view from the right. WOW.
Awesome... just don't try to go IN the water. Your feet with get brain freeze.
and this is the view from the back seat in the car. even MORE awesome. :)

and this is a picture of me. What can i say? i felt hot. HAHAH
*sigh*

the end.

Love this post!!! It really made me laugh...because moving is STRESSFUL...I especially love how the fire department had to ax down your front door! Did you sweet baby monster wake up during any of that noise?!?

Love all your views from your house! How long do you think it will take you to unpack?!? Well, I've lived in my house here since the end of Dec, and still not completely unpacked. Good luck with that!

And girl, you are HOT!!!!!

I love that you're living in San Fransisco! I can't wait to see all the pictures of the very different people there. Make sure you share them with us. :)

And you do look beautiful, as does Lucas. :)

why didn't you just call a locksmith? still wondering that after talking to you but i forgot to say it. my bran was probably thinking about how sweaty my pits were or why my underwear was riding up so high.

anywho...love the views. you need friends like summer and MA who loan us their wetsuits so you can boogie board in that ice water.

oh. and you also need the military to move you next time. forget packing and unpacking AND driving...have them do it!! tell enos to sign up!

sorry, I forgot to mention big city driving. After Tokyo, Las Vegas, Seville, and raised near Bay Area, I just forgot it might be one of those things that can freak a person out. sorry. And yes, I over-exagerated the beach issue. You are in a nice spot, and I am jealous, even though I still think San Francisco beaches suck compared to warm southern, or isolated and romantic northern. It still beats have NO beaches....like here. So your place ROCKS!!! I'm sorry about the lockouts, that is dramatic. I'm trying to have sympathy for all your stresses, but DANG...you live in FREAKIN SAN FRANCISCO! MY future on the otherhand, might be in someplace like Boise...really? Boise? come on Bill. So yeah, I don't feel sorry for you, cause I know, in time, the good will WAY outway the bad. kisses to all my stressed loved ones in the city by the bay!

Come to think of it, I've never really done city driving either. If I have lived in a big city, I've just walked and done public transportation. I'm sure there's a little more traffic in the daytime, too bad you can't run your errands at midnight, there's not too much then.

I think you are doing great, and I about died when I saw that picture of Lucas. He is getting so big!

I think it is rough to live somewhere cool but still feel the same- lonely, stressed, etc. Hopefully that fresh ocean air does relax you and you get settled and friend-ed soon.

It's so cool and cozy where you live in the park. I'm glad I have a great visual now off where you are, even if it was late.

sometimes I think I was a fabulous city girl in a former life and came to this life to fulfill my city destiny!

I was raised in a small lil suburb/country town...but my heart feels alive in a big city! That is what SF is for me!

I know the peeps are weird, I know they smell, and there are more homeless people than humanly necessary. I know that the drivers are rude and out of control, I know the hills are freaking scary...but as you showed us...there is a charm and magic to this city!

Hopefully, you will start to feel it too all while sippin on your lemonade from the lemons that life handed you!

Good luck to Enos...I wish him and the three of you all the best!

In spite of all the sour pits you've experienced you have made lemonade! Good job! You look so happy! :)

I love your view, and to think you will be there for several years! Enjoy it while it lasts!

I will be in SF tonight with Rachel watching "Wicked"! (There are benefits to SF!)

Give Enos our love, tell him we know he will do great. Come visit whenever you want to get away from crazy SF! (though I am sure you prefer visiting Grandma and Grandpa Heinzen!)

Geez! You have like 20 billion comments. Your lockout story was so funny. I'm sure at the time it wasn't, but looking back is sure made for a good story. I hope you guys settle in quickly. I'm curious what you'll think of your ward and if there will be cool people to make friends with. Oh, and you do look hot in that last picture!!!

HOLY! That is a lot to happen to one HOT little lady in a week. It's over... what next?
I say, ocean view counts even if it's just a bit. Seeing the water puts the world in perspective. Live it up!

AMAZING VIEWS!! Including the self portrait, you little vixen!

Sorry you had a hard move. That lockout story is HYSTERICAL!! I can only imagine you guys FREAKING OUT! (cut to Lucas sleeping peacefully, blissfully unaware he's ALL ALONE!) HA!

Love you!

I may have an age-ed and fatigue-ed brain but I still can remember moving with 5 children so I definitely empathize! I do want you to know though that the "Heinzen Moving Committee" enjoyed the entire moving trek with you, Enos, and Lucas. We are especially happy to have you in California. David and Teresa, does that mean Texas is next? What a trek that would be!
